David G. Carr, BC-HIS - Riverhead
Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist
“As your hearing specialist, I will listen to you. Learn
from you. Involve you in the process. It’s the only way to
know which technology and programming are really right for you.
I’m committed to keeping abreast of the latest breakthroughs
in hearing care. But I never forget that a professional’s
personal qualifications-thoughtfulness, compassion, and dedication-make
the biggest difference in your world full of sound.”
EXPERTISE AND KNOWLEDGE YOU CAN DEPEND ON
“Hearing care is advancing faster than the speed of sound.
Breakthroughs like digital technology are ensuring people a richer
sound quality than ever before. That’s why I never stop learning.”
Board-Certified: Hearing Instrument Sciences, National Board for
Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences, #05145
Certified: D.C. Electronics; Oticon, Starkey, Phonak, Resound,
Widex, Micro Tech, Philips, Telex, Omni
Continuing Education: More hours than is required by New York State
LIFELONG PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS ARE THE KEY
“Sharing knowledge with my colleagues is one of the most
important benefits of belonging to professional organizations.
I can exchange ideas, learn about new technologies, and continually
seek better ways of helping my patients.”
Member: Hearing Health Care Alliance of New York, International
Hearing Society
DEDICATED TO HELPING YOU HEAR BETTER:
“People with hearing difficulties have a tendency to retreat
into isolation, enduring the sounds of silence instead of enjoying
the sounds of life. That’s why I will come to their homes
to screen their hearing and fit them for hearing aids. Some patients
won’t reach out for the help they need. But I make sure it
reaches out to them.”
Volunteer: Hearing Protection Awareness, local health fairs

Lisa Dini
General Manager
Lisa Dini joined the McGuire’s family in 2006 as General
Manager after more than 17 years as a sales manager at both her
own computer technology business and other technology-related firms.
Lisa has utilized her management skills in tandem with her understanding
of technology to help McGuire’s streamline and automate a
number of programs, including insurance reimbursement, patient
filing and record locator, which expedite patient check-ins.
Lisa was instrumental in the development of the company’s
web site and in the launching of “Ask Dr. Frieda”,
the McGuire’s web site feature created to provide immediate,
free answers to patient inquiries about hearing health.
In addition, Lisa helped to shape unique patient financing and
referral programs and has worked closely with manufacturer representatives
to develop customer-focused marketing campaigns.
“My job is different everyday, but it’s always challenging
and rewarding. And while much of what I do starts with computers
and paperwork, my efforts are always directed toward a better experience
for our customers.”

Dr. Frieda Toback, Doctor of Audiology - Patchogue
Director of McGuire's Audiology Program
“My role in helping people hear goes far beyond the walls
of my office. It goes into the homes of grandchildren who want
to communicate with my patients. It travels to forests and
beaches where my patients want to hear the sounds of nature once
again. And it even goes to stadiums where my patients want
to hear the roar of the crowd. As you can tell, I take my
role very seriously.”
EDUCATED TO HELP YOU HEAR
“My education was a very important part of my goal to become
an audiologist. Knowing what I wanted to do for a long time gave
me the advantage of focusing my studies on one field of interest. I
strive to bring that enthusiasm to my patients every day.”
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
Certificate in Deaf Studies: Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
Licensed: New York State, Audiology, Adelphi University, New York,
NY
MA: Queens College University, New York, NY
BA: City University Hunter College, New York, NY
SHARING TO TEACH AND TO LEARN
“My professional associations
allow me to exchange ideas with my colleagues. It’s
a “give and take” process, but I must admit to favoring
the “give” part. The
thought that something I contribute may help someone else’s
patient is very gratifying.”
Fellow: American Academy of Audiology
Member: American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
RESEARCH AND REPORTING TO IMPROVE HEARING
“During my career, I have strived to keep pace with changes in hearing
technology. In addition to authoring articles on hearing
subjects, I have maintained a steady schedule of continuing education
in order to pass this knowledge on to my patients.”
Author: “Retrocochlear: Auditory Dysfunction in the Presence of Diabetes
Mellitus,” MA Thesis, “The Use of Conditioning Procedures with a
Disruptive Nonverbal Child,” Journal of Speech and Hearing
Disorders

Lisa H. Roselli-Carr, M.A.-CCC/A - Southampton
Audiologist
“During my career, I have seen patients from all walks of
life. But I have noticed that they all have one thing in common.
They are all mindful of the precious gift of hearing they have
lost and are all so overjoyed when I can help restore it. Their
smiles and appreciation make a difference in my life.”
A LIFELONG EDUCATION
“One of the most important subjects I learned in school
was how to improve my skills through my ears. Simply put, that
means listening to my patients. I have found that often, they need
someone who understands what they are going through and who has
the time to listen. Perhaps the greatest reward of my career is
helping people to communicate.”
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
Certificate of
Qualification as Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped
Licensed: New York State, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensing
MA: Audiology, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
BS: Speech Pathology and Audiology, State University of New York,

PEER EXCHANGES TO DEVELOP SKILLS
“The world of hearing technology is a dynamic one. New products
and theories are always available for examination and discussion.
One of the ways I can help my patients is to stay in touch with
my colleagues through professional memberships. That way, I am
always informed of new and exciting developments.”
Member: American Speech and Hearing Association
DEVOTED TO HELPING OTHERS HEAR
“One of the most successful ways to help my patients hear
better is to let them know that finding a solution to their hearing
impairment is a team effort. I can’t force anyone to do anything.
But based on my years of experience, I can make informed recommendations
as to the best course of action. That way, we work together and
the results are priceless.”

Michael Burke - Patchogue
Hearing Instrument Specialist
A COMMITMENT TO BETTER HEARING
We are currently in a period of incredible leaps and advances
in hearing aid technology. We in the hearing assistance field
are duty bound to stay current with these advances so that we
may better serve our patients who have placed their trust in
us. I prided myself in doing so.
COMMITMENT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PATIENT CARE
Once entrusted with the responsibility to select proper amplification
for my patients, I pride myself on providing the best customer
service possible. It is not enough to select and fit the proper
hearing aid. It is my obligation and pleasure to provide whatever
counseling and support services are necessary for each person
to have a successful hearing experience.
COMMITMENT TO LISTENING
This is where it all begins. I listen to each person and recognize
each one as the unique individual he or she is. It is the best
way to determine precisely which instrument will best serve
each person’s needs.
I feel blessed to be able to say that my profession is my calling.
Not only do I love what I do, but I feel I’ve made a difference
in many peoples’ lives.

Dr. Mary K. Bohr, M.S., CCC-A - Riverhead
Audiologist
Licensed New York State, Audiology
M.S. Audiology, Adelphi University
B.S. Communication Sciences and Disorders, Adelphi University
Continuing Education, currently enrolled for Doctorate in Audiology,

“I can’t think of a better vocation than one that
rewards you with the absolute joy in someone’s eyes when
they hear clearly for the first time. This is what drives me and
gratifies me.”
“I learn daily from – and with -- my patients. I love
what I do, and I am pleased to actively participate in continuing
education.”
“I have worked in several settings, including hospitals,
an ENT office, and a school for the developmentally delayed. Each
one provided a new learning experience, with patients ranging from
pediatric to seniors. They are all rewarding, but each one has
its own unique gratification.”
“My number one priority is patient care. I am dedicated
to helping my patients to hear and communicate effectively with
their loved ones. This is my vocation.”

Jennifer Costa, MA, CCC-A - Greenport
Audiologist
"I am truly committed to finding the best possible solution
for each individually unique patient. Working together as a team
with the patient and that patient's family, we can reach hearing
goals that help improve the quality of life. This is one of the
most fulfilling aspects of my profession: seeing patients happier
with better hearing."
ALWAYS LEARNING
"Continuing education is an important part
of being an audiologist. Technology today is continuing advancing,
and I remain aware and active of these advances so that I can provide
my patients with the best available devices. Once of my strong
suits is my well-rounded education. I have worked with so many
different client populations and have learned so much with and
from my patients."
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology
Licensed: New York State Audiologist
MA: Audiology, Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
BA: Speech Communication, St. Joseph's College, Patchogue, NY
Continuing Education, Doctorate in Audiology, University of Florida
PATIENTS COME FIRST
"My number one priority is providing my patients
with the highest standard of care. Patients deserve enthusiasm,
knowledge and trust, as well as the promise of a commitment to
work together to find the most appropriate hearing instrument to
improve communication and quality of life."

Dr. Mike Taveniere, Doctor of Audiology degree – Bronx,
NY
Audiologist
“I witness daily the far-reaching effects hearing loss has
on one’s life as well as their loved ones. The presence of
a hearing loss hinders communication, and therefore, hinders relationships.
The restoration of effective communication leads to a return to
the social world. As a hearing professional, I strive to work hard
along side patients to help them re-enter the social world they
have been missing.”
COUNSELING PATIENTS
“My education, training and professional experiences have shown me that
patients need to recognize how a hearing loss impacts them before they can
work to resolve their loss. I do my best to counsel them and educate them on
their personal hearing profile and how we can help them.”
EDUCATION
Clinical Certificate of Competence-Audiology
New York Audiology License
New York Hearing Aid Dispensers License
University of Florida, Distance Learning Program. Doctor of Audiology,
Major in Clinical Audiology.
Hunter College CUNY, New York, NY: Master of Science. Major in
Communication Sciences - Audiology focus.
New York University, New York, NY: Bachelor of Science. Major

and Psychology.
PATIENCE WITH PATIENTS
“When a patient comes in, I recognize that that patient
may be struggling with recognizing that they have a hearing loss,
and it can be upsetting. In addition, there are many hearing devices
available. I pledge to my patients that we’ll look at the
options, consider patient needs and concerns, and then make a determination
as to the best choice for that individual. Just as a patient can’t
resolve this alone, neither can a hearing professional.”

Dr. Deena Palumbo - Southampton
Audiologist
“I never realized that a relationship with a patient could
be life long. This is one of the most gratifying parts of my job,
in addition to the reward of knowing we’ve helped others
to hear. It takes a lot of courage for a person to visit us, admit
hearing loss and seek help for it. If you can understand their
needs, you can work together to change lives.
I couldn’t have picked a more rewarding field than Audiology.
It’s wonderful to see the instant gratification on the face
of a patient or a family member who thanks you so immensely that
they no longer have to shout and can turn the television down.”
EDUCATION
AuD: Doctorate of Audiology Arizona School of Health Science,

MA: Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY
BA St. Joseph’s College, Patchogue, NY
Individuality and Personal Attention:
Each individual has a different lifestyle and it is important
to focus on their specific needs and not a generalization when
prescribing hearing aids. I promise to listen to your needs and
give you the best recommendation for amplification, chosen just
for you.
ISOLATION AND HEARING LOSS
Many people can pull away from social situations when hearing
is affected. Just knowing that I have touched so many lives and
brought families closer together again to communicate more effectively
and not exclude someone means everything to me.
TECHNOLOGY AND PRICING
There are so many different styles, sizes, types of technology and price ranges that there is no reason for someone to go without the gift of hearing. There are also programs to help people who are less fortunate, so they can also be fitted and receive hearing help. We can assist you with your needs, and I promise to do the best for you and make you a part of our family.
