Testimonials

August 18th 2010

To Whom it may Concern:

I am writing this letter to acknowledge Ms. Mary Bohr for her generosity, kindness and expertise.

On May 20, 2010, I had contacted your Riverhead office to ask if an Audiologist would review an adoption file of a little girl with a hearing loss from China. The receptionist kindly gave me Ms Mary Bohr’s email to forward the file. I had informed the receptionist that I was prepared to pay for the service. Please note that we are not patients of any of the McGuire offices.

We had 72 hours to decide if we were going to accept the child as our own and we were coming up on 48 hours. It was apparent that Ms. Bohr wasted no time in reviewing the file. She had called me within 30 minutes and addressed the ABSR Record that was attached to the file.

Ms Bohr’s professionalism was outstanding. We are familiar with deafness. I have been an educational interpreter for the deaf for over 22 years and my husband’s grandmother has been using sign language for the past 15 years due to hearing loss. I had informed Ms Bohr of our experience and still she took the time to explain the file almost instinctively knowing that this was a very stressful decision we had to make. She had reviewed the findings in layman terms and educated me on the latest technology that is available to persons with a hearing loss as well as local services for the deaf. I was very impressed.

The conversation ended and Ms. Bohr had wished us luck. I asked what the fee for the review was and she told me there was no fee. I was shocked and very thankful.

We are happy to say that we had accepted this little girl to be our daughter. Ms Bohr had help in making the right decision for our family. I am very grateful.

I would like Ms Mary Bohr to be acknowledged for her selflessness in our time of need. I am sure she had a busy schedule but still she cared enough to open her email, review a file and make a call to a person who she did not know and who was not a patient. That is called dedication and an act of kindness. I am very impressed with your staff and the way you conduct business. I am sure you will be seeing us when we come home from China with our Daughter.

Yours Truly,
Sheri Vail
