OSHA HEARING EVALUATIONS
By OSHA’s estimation, twenty-two to thirty million American workers are exposed to high-decibel, potentially damaging noise at the workplace. In response to this, OSHA requires employers to give their employees OSHA-approved hearing tests, if the noise level is beyond a certain threshold. McGuire’s Hearing Centers offers OSHA-compliant hearing evaluations for compliant solutions. Employers and employees alike can schedule a consultation.
Since 1970, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been setting safety standards for the American workforce, and hearing falls under OSHA’s regulatory umbrella. McGuire’s Hearing Centers offers the following occupational hearing evaluations:
AUDIOMETRIC TESTING
This exam tests your hearing sensitivity. An audiogram measures auditory aptitudes at different hertz, tones, and decibels.
OTOSCOPIC SCREENINGS
This exam uses an otoscope to investigate the ear canal and the tympanic membrane (ear drum), with an emphasis on irregularities, while screening for physical abnormalities in the ear canal.
HEARING CONSERVATION TESTS
In line with OSHA’s conservation program, these tests gauge a work environment over 85 decibels averaged over eight hours of work.
